Last week we caught Casiotone For The Painfully Alone at the Bottom of the Hill. It was the last stop on the tour with The Donkeys and they both put on great shows.

The Donkeys picked things up after the opener and really kick started things for a wild night. As Nate already mentioned in the post below this, his friend Derek was indeed courted by a drunk chick. She made the rounds however and after I rejected her by pretending not to hear a word she was saying, I pointed to him and the sparks flew. I was surprised immensely at her dedication to the square dance and to hold her stomach down at the same time. Brought a small tear to my eye.

After their set she disappeared as magically as she had appeared. That or she was shuffled off somewhere by some guy seeing a great opportunity in the making.

Then Owen Ashworth (Casiotone) took the stage behind his setup of mixers and mics and took the audience for a ride on his electro-beat carpet.

A great mix of old and new splashed with a good pair of cover songs and we were primed for him to be joined by The Donkeys as his backing band! I must admit that a full band is a great addition to his music, they complimented it very well and spiced up some of the older “classics” from his Twinkle Echo release. They ended up playing for just over an hour and, as you can listen to in a moment, we in top form that night for Casiotone’s home crowd.
