Handsome Furs @ The Rickshaw Stop - 2007.09.17

Handsome Furs

On the evening of September 17th, we had the pleasure of meeting up with the Handsome Furs duo before their show at the Rickshaw Stop. On tour with with fellow Wolf Parade band member, Dante, playing as Johnny And The Moon, the bands rolled in a little late to their soundcheck. Listening to both acts tune up and go through a couple of songs, you knew it was going to be a fun and really loud evening.

Johnny & The Moon

Johnny And The Moon had a great folk/alt-country sound which was refreshing to hear opening for a mostly electronic headliner. Consisting of a full band they kept things going during their 35 minute set. Before and a bit during the opening sets we learned that Dan and Dante grew up together on Vancouver Island and how Alexi is not only a drum machine goddess, but also at one point was a dancer for MIA.

Handsome Furs took the stage to close off the night to a welcoming SF crowd. Dan’s vocals and electric guitar combined with Alexi’s drum machine beats make for an unexpected full sound coming from the duo. Despite being sick, Dan still managed to put on an amazing show.

Enjoy being able to listen to the show that night. Only available here!
