“Hello San Fransycho!” greeted Sondre Lerche, the Norwegian singer songwriter, as he entered the stage of Great American Music Hall.

On Tuesday night, August 26th, Sondre Lerche made a stop in his six exclusive Northern America shows to promote his latest album, the soundtrack to Dan In Real Life. Playing with just his guitar, swapping between acoustic and electric, Sondre played in front of his adoring fans who happened to be mostly female.

Having seen Sondre Lerche a few years back with his full band, I have to admit I had some concerns about coming to tonight’s show, but what it comes down to is that his songs are melodically catchy and ready to be sung along, without sounding sappy or sentimental. Throughout the night, Sondre delivered all his songs flawlessly with the finesse of a veteran entertainer, despite him being only 25 years old.

Halfway through the set, Sondre was joined by Sylvie Lewis, who earlier opened the show with her tender and quiet songs, and successfully for the first time did her sing-a-long with a cover from the American classic “Moon River”. Together they played a few songs, two from Dan In Real Life, “Modern Nature” and “Hell No” and one of Lewis’ song,”New York”.

He could be the big pop star, have his songs played on mainstream radios, but that’s not what he really wants. He once said that as long as he makes the album that he’s proud of, he’s happy.

In the end, hundred of fans and I were just glad to see Sondre in real life doing his thing, playing his music.
