Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks @ Amoeba Records - 2008.03.05

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks played an in-store performance at Haight/Ashbury’s Amoeba Records in support of their latest album Real Emotional Trash. The crowd was primed and ready as we all waited, filling up half of the entire store’s rows of LPs, for the Jicks to take the stage. The band took the stage after being introduced over the store’s PA system and broke out into “Dragonfly Pie”, the first track off of Real Emotional Trash. The band showed how well practiced they are as they jammed through the albums first five tracks. To mix things up they skipped “Baltimore” and went straight into “Gardenia” closing with a great version of “Elmo Delmo”.

For those of us who couldn’t make the sold out show at the Great American Music Hall back in December, this was a more than welcomed treat.

The band proceeded with an album/poster signing to close the night for those who wished to purchase the album and were whisked off soon after for interviews.
